Dog Decompression Walks - Is your dog getting its?

Writer: The Responsive CanineThe Responsive Canine
  • A term coined by dog trainer Sarah Stremming, dog decompression walks are a brilliant way to calm your dog.

  • A decompression walk is "a walk where the dog is allowed freedom of movement in nature" (Sarah Stremming). This may be in the bush, a quiet beach, a large park, sports field, or other large open area. Look for a place with little to no people or pet traffic nearby as this will help them to decompress.

  • Either off lead or on a harness and long-line, allow your dog to sniff and explore until its heart's content.

  • AMAZING BENEFITS: Not all exercise is equal. Unlike ball chasing, decompression walks provide both physical AND mental exercise which helps your dog to feel more balanced and calm.
